June Meeting

Christine Dellow presided over her first meeting as President yesterday.  She introduced the members of the Committee and outlined their particular responsibilities.  There may be some changes over the next year, but Christine plans to take things carefully.

The speaker this month was Mrs Oggy Weldon who, late in life, decided to train as a milliner.  She gave an interesting talk illustrating the various stages of hat-making, interspersed with anecdotes of her experiences in her new career.

There were many examples of her skill on display and members were able to view (and purchase!) items from the very varied selection.

At the end of her talk, she was thanked by Pam Marsh.  Mrs Weldon later judged the June competition, which was for a hat.  The winner was Jenny Ford, whose entry was a narrative offering involving a cricket match - not so much a Mrs Shilling hat, more a Mrs Ha'penny hat!

We still have a few choice items remaining from our Charity Coffee Morning in May.  These were on display for members to purchase, along with some succulent lemon drizzle cake and scones, courtesy of Jean Wright.
