This was a well-attended and busy meeting.  As well as the usual business of minutes, matters arising, and forthcoming events, there was voting to be completed for the choice of Resolution to go forward to the Annual Meeting in June, details of the Open Day to be held in March in place of the previously scheduled Members Day, an announcement about a very special afternoon tea later in the year, and publicity for the International Women's Day event to be held at the Leisure Centre on Sunday 8 March from 2-4 pm. 

The speaker for the afternoon was Jane Dismore who writes thoroughly-researched books about the Royal Family.  Although - as she acknowledged - she was not our planned speaker, she was able to keep everyone interested with her fascinating accounts of how she managed to talk to dukes and duchesses, to royal cousins, and others who had held positions that brought them into close contact with royal circles.  Her talk proved very popular, as did her books which she had on display. 

Jane later judged the competition for "A Souvenir of a Royal Event".  The prize went to Angela Keill for a photograph of a close relative being introduced to Diana, Princess of Wales.

After tea and cake, the Raffle was drawn and Birthday flowers were presented.
